FNTSY SPORTS TODAY – Aroldis Chapman Trade Analysis & Implications
On today’s show, Corey Erdman and Garion Thorne discuss what the recent acquisition of Aroldis Chapman means for the yankees and more importantly fantasy owners heading into the 2016 season.
FANTASY BASEBALL – Aroldis Chapman’s Fantasy Impact
Garion Thorne attempts to project how the Aroldis Chapman trade will effect all the top end talents in the back-end of the Yankees bullpen in 2016. Will Andrew Miller’s reverse splits help him beat out the former Red for saves? And is Dellin Betances the true loser in all this?
FANTASY BASEBALL – All-Star Regression
CBSSports.com takes a look at some All-Stars that could be due for a little regression in the second half of the baseball season. Find out who to sell high.
FANTASY BASEBALL – Alex Rodriguez
After hitting home run No. 660 to pull into a tie with Willie Mays last Friday, A-Rod swatted No. 661 in Thursday’s win over the Orioles. There was no doubt about it, either, as Rodriguez crushed a Chris Tillman pitch deep to left-center field to pass Mays on the list.
Rodriguez spoke with reverence about Mays before he tied the record last week, and he acknowledged the unlikelihood of it all after Thursday’s game.
FANTASY BASEBALL – CC Sabathia
CC Sabathia’s ERA sits at an ugly 5.96 and most fantasy owners are giving up on him. He is only owned in 18% of Yahoo leagues and has been dropped about 3800 times in the last transaction period. But taking a look at his pitching peripherals, it looks like he’s fallen victim to some rough luck on his outcomes, and better days should be ahead.
FANTASY BASEBALL – The New Look Masahiro Tanaka
If you drafted Masahiro Tanaka and his elbow of broken parts, you knew there was risk. I was among the many that thought because of his “high floor” and expected ADP, he represented a nice little opportunity given the other available talent at that stage in the draft — a point well articulated by Paul Sporer in this piece. But while we knew he had a partially torn UCL, what wasn’t fully disclosed was that Tanaka had every intention of modifying his approach to hitters, saying, in effect, don’t expect much in the way of velocity this year. So it goes.
