FANTASY FOOTBALL – Stefon Diggs, Melvin Gordon Cut List

FantasyFootballNFL

In order to be active on the waiver wire you have to be willing to cut bait on someone sitting on your bench. Sometimes that decision is easy, but that’s not always the case. Here are four players who had been viewed as potential contributors this season that we’d be willing to move on from at this point:

Stefon Diggs – Wide Receiver – Minnesota Vikings
It has now been a five week struggle for Diggs, as Teddy Bridgewater and the passing game has had significant issues:

Week 9 – 3 receptions (5 targets) for 42 yards
Week 10 – 2 receptions (2 targets) for 46 yards
Week 11 – 6 receptions (9 targets) for 66 yards
Week 12 – 4 receptions (4 targets) for 31 yards
Week 13 – 2 receptions (6 targets) for 22 yards
That’s an average of 3.4 receptions and 41.4 yards per game, which alone makes him an incredibly risky play regardless of the matchup. The upcoming date with the Arizona Cardinals doesn’t make him look any better and the Bears have actually done a good job of stopping opposing wide recievers (partly thanks to their struggles at stopping the run).

Mix the struggles with the matchups and fantasy owners in redraft formats can move on if there’s a more appealing option available.

Melvin Gordon – Running Back – San Diego Chargers
According to Eric D. Williams of ESPN:

“Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said he pulled Melvin Gordon after the second time he fumbled against the Broncos.”

Will the Chargers turn back to Gordon next week? Perhaps (given where they are in the standings), but it’s also not unthinkable that the benching continues as he’s now fumbled six times this season (losing four of them).
