FANTASY FOOTBALL – Is It Time To Cut Andrew Luck?

FantasyFootballNFL

In order to be active on the waiver wire you have to be willing to cut bait on someone sitting on your bench. Sometimes that decision is easy, but that’s not always the case. Here are four players who had been viewed as potential contributors this season that we’d be willing to move on from at this point:

DeVante Parker – Wide Receiver – Miami Dolphins
The highly touted rookie has been a complete non-factor this season, totaling 4 receptions for 49 yards on 8 targets (he didn’t register a single target in Week 11). He’s battled a foot injury all season and also has a deep receiving corps ahead of him that includes Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and Rishard Matthews.

The potential is still there, it’s just hard to imagine Parker being able to put it together at any point in 2015. In fact at 4-6 there’s a good chance that the Dolphins ultimately shut him down with an eye towards making sure he’s fully healthy and ready to go for 2016. Even if they don’t, it’s impossible to think that he’ll make any type of impact over the final few weeks of the season.

Andrew Luck – Quarterback – Indianapolis Colts
According to Ian Rappaort (via Twitter):

“QB Andrew Luck is out about a month, expect a mid-December return. Matt Hasselbeck canceled a play-by-play bye week gig to focus.”

Mid-December would put him likely to return for Week 14 (at Jacksonville) or Week 15 (vs. Houston), and that’s assuming that there isn’t some type of setback. Obviously he has the potential to immediately produce once healthy, though it’s going to be tough to trust him given the layoff and the fact that he may not be returning until the fantasy playoffs are underway.

Don’t consider him a must drop option, but since you’re going to be planning for a multi-week absence you can cut ties if you’ve been able to secure a trustworthy alternative.
