FANTASY BASEBALL – Garrett Richards, Domingo Santana

We’re nearing that point in the season where there are a handful of fantasy players locked in and working hard to win it this year still and then there a bunch of owners who are out of it and already looking forward to next season. We’ll try and accommodate both groups here as we look back at last night’s top performers and discuss implications for this season and the future.

Here are the top 10 stories of the night:

1)      Domingo Santana Continues To Have A Nice Showing In His Big League Time

Another solid game turned in by Domingo Santana last night, and despite the Brewers losing another one Santana still left his mark. Santana went 3 – 4 in the game with 1 R,  1 HR and 5 RBI. Santana is now hitting .293 for the Brew Crew and has eight home runs in 121 AB’s, good for a HR every 15 AB’s. Santana did strike out once in the game and has done that way too much so far, but you have to like what you’ve seen from him. Santana probably won’t be hitting .293 over the course of a whole season of AB’s, but this power is real and 30 HR’s over the course of a season is very much within reach for him.

2)      Garrett Richards Throws A Near Complete Game

The Angels and Twins had a big showdown last night and Garrett Richards showed up and brought his A game for it. Richards went 8.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits, four walks and striking out seven. Richards struggled a little last time out, but for the most part he’s been pitching well lately. The control issues are worth watching because he has walked 16 in his last four games. Despite the control Richards has been pitching well enough to where he should be used in all formats right now.
