Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups: Notes

Now that we’ve reached the Fantasy playoffs, stop worrying about depth. Don’t get attached to your backups, even if they’re starting RBs. If Alfred Blue, Antonio Andrews, Duke Johnson or even someone as productive as Frank Gore are on your team, and you’re not ever going to use them, cut them loose for a handcuff or a streaming QB/DST to use in the upcoming weeks. The only reason to hold on to a fringe starter is to keep them out of the hands of a potential playoff competitor you may come up against. That’s it. Your bench spots are ultra valuable, so you them wisely. Rostering three or four DSTs at this time of year isn’t crazy, it’s calculated. Not only do you give your team the opportunity to exploit optimal match ups, you dry up the waiver wire and force your competition to make panic decisions if their starters come up against tough opponents. For example: If you’ve been riding Andy Dalton all season, you may want to see which QBs are still available now for Week 16 when Bad Andy is likely to show up in Denver. The longer you wait, the fewer the alternatives that are going to be available.

  4. Bilal Powell
  5. Theo Riddick
  6. Darren Sproles
  7. Ameer Abdullah
  8. Alfred Morris
  9. David Cobb
  10. Chris Polk

If Ronnie Hillman is still available in your league 1. Weird. 2. Get him above everyone. CJ Anderson could miss time after sustaining an ankle injury which took him out of the Chargers game.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups: Running Backs (For Bench)

  1. Charles Sims
  2. Robert Turbin
  3. Fitzgerald Toussaint
  4. Terrance West
  5. Bilal Powell
  6. Boom Herron
  7. Mike Gillislee
  8. Stepfan Taylor
  9. Jay Ajayi
  10. Denard Robinson
  11. Jamize Owaluigi
  12. David Cobb
  13. Fred Jackson
  14. Mike Tolbert

As we found out in the Sunday Nighter, someone named Fitzgerald Toussaint appears to be the handcuff to DeAngelo Williams, not Jordan Todman.

LeSean McCoy left briefly with a concussion, he eventually returned, but his absence let us know 2014 Fantasy draft super-sleeper Mike Gillislee will get the touches over Anthony Dixon. At least while Karlos Williams remains out with his shoulder injury.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups: Wide Receiver

  1. Anquan Boldin
  2. MARV Jones
  3. DaVante Parker
  4. Cecil Shorts III
  5. Brian Hartline
  6. Doug Baldwin
  7. Dorial Green-Beckham
  8. Keshawn Martin
  9. Nate Washington
  10. Chris Givens
  11. Rueben Randle
  12. Tyler Lockett
  13. Brandon Goldman Coleman
  14. Ted Ginn Jr.
  15. Dwayne Harris
  16. Devin Funchess
  17. Rashad Greene
  18. JJ Nelson
  19. Marqise Lee
  20. Kenny Britt

THE SLEDGEHAMMERTaylor Gabriel was already out, and Travis Benjamin (Shoulder) and Marlon Moore (Ribs) both exited against the Bengals, leaving the Browns receiving corps… rather thin. Brian Hartline soaked up all the WR work, putting up 8 catches on 11 targets. He’s an Austin Davis favorite.

Kenny Stills was iffy to play against the Ravens with a knee injury, so it shouldn’t be a surprise he left the game with a bad knee. Stills joins Rishard Matthews (Ribs) on the sidelines, allowing us more chances to see DaVante Parker put on a clinic on how to catch the ball at its highest point.

You know how everyone has a big boner for Dorial Green-Beckham? It’s because he can do things like this.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups: Tight End

  1. Austin Seferian-Jenkins
  2. Richard Rodgers
  3. Jacob Tamme
  4. Charles Clay
  5. Kyle Rudolph
  6. Zach Ertz
  7. Blake Bell
  8. Jesse James
  9. Will Tye
  10. Owen Daniels

Not only is Austin Seferian-Jenkins not dead, he gets the Saints Week 14. HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!!

Vance McDonald suffered a concussion, making Blake Bell the new starting the new TE apple of Blaine Gabbert‘s eye. Four of Gabbert’s five TD passes this season have gone to TEs.

Crockett Gillmore suffered a back injury and didn’t return. Backup TE MAXX Williams is already out too. The Ravens are literally running out of players.

He didn’t come through Week 13, but with Leonard Hankerson finished for the season, Jacob Tamme should see 5+ targets in every game in the Fantasy playoffs. Tread carefully, though; TAMME draws Carolina Week 14 and 16.

Vernon Davis got a case of the dizzies and didn’t return. Owen Daniels becomes a low upside TE in deep leagues if Davis remains out.
