  28. Jamize Owaluigi
  29. Orleans Darkwa

Even when Eddie Lacy wasn’t out of the game with a groin injury, James Starks looked WAAAYYYYYYYYY better. This has become a running theme. Maybe Hipster Eddie is just sucking ironically? No word yet on the extent of Lacy’s injury, there’s a chance the team fabricated it as an excuse for his awful play, but it’s clear you need to have Starks on your squad in case the Packers decide to make the backfield switch full time. Hold Lacy, for now.

It was a vintage LeSean McCoy outing in Buffalo: First, he showcased some classic Shady cuts. Then, he left the game with an injured shoulder. At the post game press conference, McCoy said he’s fine and would have returned to the game if the Bills weren’t killing the Dolphins by so, so much. Now, McCoy may pretend to be a doctor to impress the ladies, but he’s not. So an MRI is still upcoming. Expect him to be OK, but monitor the situation since Buffalo has a quick turnaround playing the Jets on Thursday night. Whether McCoy is injured or not, owning a healthy Karlos Williams is a must at this point. McCoy will continue to get the majority of touches, but it appears the explosive Williams will eat into his upside, since he’s scoring ALL THE TDs. Relying on an RB that may only see limited touches week-to-week isn’t wise, but Williams’ TD opportunities actually make him a fringe FLEX option in deeper leagues. Plus, you’ll want to have him stashed away just in case McCoy misses time. If that happens, Williams is a Top 15 RB, maybe better.

Dion Lewis hurt his knee. How badly? Yet to be determined. An MRI will reveal that info soon, but early reports have him with a “loose” ACL. Best case: It’s a sprain and he misses a few weeks, getting healthy for the Fantasy playoffs. Worse case: He’s joins the endless list of starting RBs to hit the triage unit, obv. [UPDATE: It’s worse case. Lewis has a torn ACL. He’s done for the year]. No matter what, it appears like he’s going to miss some time. Meaning, we return to the joyless situation of attempting to guess which RB Bill Belichick plans on using in the passing game every week. Fun! LeGarrette Montez Blount has a locked down the between the tackles duty, but now we have a coin flip situation between picking up Brandon Bolden or James White. The great part about Lewis was his consistency in a backfield that historically had none. Who knows what’s going to happen now? Bolden hauled in a TD after Lewis left the game, but White was inactive. When both are in uniform, how’s that going to shake down? I’m going White over Bolden unless information indicating the opposite is released. Doesn’t mean I won’t try and add Bolden too, though. Owning any player that could earn a meaningful role in the New England offense is worth owning, even if you have to get lucky for things to break in your favor.

Not sure if Carlos Hyde will be back from his foot injury after the Niners return from bye Week 11, but, if he’s not, Shaun Draughn established himself as the Bay Area back to add. Draughn’s 16 carries trumped Kendall Gaskins’ 8 and Pirerre Thomas’ 4, and he was the only SF RB to be used in the passing game, chipping in 38 yards on four catches. Frankly, I’m surprised the carry distribution was that close, Draughn killed the others in snap count: Draughn 46, Gaskins 15, Thomas 4. In deeper formats, Draughn is worth tucking away if you’re decimated at RB.

Latavius Murray went down. Hard. Fumbling on the play that put him into concussion protocol. Murray could be back for Minnesota next week, he could be out a while; it’s a concussion, we’re not gonna know. So, preemptively, grabbing Taiwan Jones is the prudent move. Although he fumbled after Murray exited, Jones remains the likeliest candidate to see the bulk of work on the ground. He’ll occasionally cede time to Marcel Reece and Jamize Olawale, but Jones is who I’ll be targeting.

In some return from IR news, Jay Ajayi established himself as the new handcuff to Lamar Miller in Miami, surpassing Jonas Gray on the depth chart. David Cobb did nothing. Literally. Well, I suppose that’s not true, he was inactive for the game. That’s all though; Cobb should make his season debut next week. Antonio Andrews is the back to own in Tennessee. Oh, and it appears Jordan Todman, not Isaiah Pead is the handcuff in Pittsburgh.

PPR sensation Theo Riddick is returning from bye, and I’m guessing, everyone’s forgotten about him. And, in the face of logic, Joique Bell keeps getting touches in that backfield. He must have incriminating pictures of someone in the Lions organization.

The Skins returned from bye with the clear intent to bury Alfred Morris. Morris only saw the field 10 times, while Matt Jones got a team-high 25 snaps, followed closely by Chris Thompson’s 22. Jones did all the work on the ground, and with the Saints up next, could be a sneaky gamble Week 10… With Khiry Robinson moving to IR, CJ Spiller was gonna get some extra run. That didn’t happen. Spiller played five of 76 snaps. Mark Ingram had 69. I mean, when you’re averaging 2.5 yards per carry, it’s kinda tough to take ya off the field… The Broncos balance of power shifted back to CJ Anderson. While it’s essentially a pure spilt, Anderson edged Ronnie Hillman 27-to-24 in snaps. Niether did anything with the playing time… And, our weekly check in WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE GIANTS BACKFIELD, WHY DO THEY CONTINUE USING FOUR RUNNING BACKS EVERY WEEK, I MEAN, COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN??????????? All four backs played at least 14 snaps, and none went over 28. That was Shane Vereen. He remains the only viable Fantasy option. And really, you only want to roll him out in PPR leagues.

Also, now the time of the year to start loading up on handcuffs for the stretch run. Your position in the standings and current need for starting RBs will dictate how many bench spots you should allot to this sort of investment. Target the back up RBs that will have a clear starting role (ie. DeAngelo Williams)  should anything happen to the starter. In a situation like this, opportunity and offensive system trump talent. Assuming Karlos Williams is someone that should just be owned to begin with, the top five handcuffs rest of season, in order, are Tevin ColemanAhmad BradshawThomas RawlsCharles Sims and Buck Allen. (Christine Michael gets a giant downgrade since someone named Rod Smith played over him un the Sunday nighter; Michael didn’t see the field). For this the Week 10 waiver wire, though, with Coleman and Bradshaw going into a bye, bump them down the list and grab the other guys in case the starter gets hurt this week.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups: Wide Receiver

  1. Kamar Aiken
  2. Brandon LaFell
  3. Nate Washington
  4. Marvin Jones
  5. Davante Adams
  6. Cecil Shorts III
  7. Dorial Green-Beckham
  8. Michael Floyd
  9. Tavon Austin
  10. Rueben Randle
  11. Terrance Williams
  12. Marquess Wilson
  13. Devin Funchess
  14. Dwayne Harris
  15. Danny Amendola
  16. Dontrelle Inman
  17. Cole Beasley
  18. Ted Ginn Jr.
  19. Chris Givens
  20. Robert Woods
  21. Justin Hunter
  22. Jermaine Kearse
  23. Doug Baldwin
  24. Jeremy Kerley
  25. Jeremy Ross
  26. Josh Huff
  27. Kenbrell Thompkins

The best adds are all coming off bye weeks, meaning, you can likely get them for cheaper than you think. If people actually wanted them, they would have made that a priority this week. Kamar Aiken returns to the best situation, now the lead Ravens WR with Steve Smith Sr. done for the year. Nate Washington will continue to be a target monster in Houston’s “can’t run, always pass” offense. The Texans pass so much, Cecil Shorts should also be picked up, more so in PPR leagues, if it comes out that he’s over his hamstring injury.

Michael Floyd has seen his role increase, but that was directly related to John Brown’s hamstring issues. With another week to rest, Brown may be closer to full strength, thus making both ownable, yet untrustworthy week-to-week. They’ll pilfer each other’s numbers.

Being the third (or fourth, when Dion Lewis is around) option in the Patriots passing game, makes Brandon LaFell a solid Fantasy contributor. In his three games since returning from injured reserve, LaFell hasn’t seen fewer than seven targets in any game. He finally put them to good use this week; breaching the 100-yard barrier and leading the team in looks.

We waited all year for Dorial Green-Beckham to get involved in the Titans passing game, and all it took was an injury to Kendall Wright, a new coach and the return of Marcus Mariota. BUT IT HAPPENED!!!!! DGB led Tennessee in targets, setting career highs in receptions and yardage.

Devin Funchess… HE’S ALIVEEEEE!!!!!!!!! But only played 17/68 snaps. So, while still living, let’s slow down projecting this a the beginning of a breakout. He’s still merely a wait-and see stash option.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups: Tight End

  1. Eric Ebron
  2. Crockett Gillmore
  3. Austin Seferian-Jenkins
  4. Richard Rodgers
  5. Charles Clay
  6. Jordan Cameron
  7. Zach Ertz
  8. Heath Miller
  9. Jacob Tamme
  10. Vernon Davis
  11. Kyle Rudolph
  12. Garrett Celek
  13. Anthony Fasano

Screw it, it’s a bunch of crappy options at TE, so gamble on the upside of Eric Ebron coming out of the bye. At least you know the Lions will be chucking it all the time. Ebron does have five targets in every game game he’s been healthy… Jacob Tamme is averaging over six catches per game the last three weeks, but his viability hinges on the health of Leonard Hankerson. Since Hankerson went down with a hamstring injury, Tamme’s been playing over 70% of snaps, topping out at an outrageous 95% against the 49ers. Problem is, the Falcons are entering their bye week, and Hankerson should be back Week 11… Kamar Aiken is in line for a usage boost, Crockett Gillmore might be too… Heath Miller had value. Then Big Ben got hurt again. If you are thinking about picking up Miller without Ben under center… DON’T!!!

Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups: Quarterback

  1. Blake Bortles
  2. Brian Hoyer
  3. Derek Carr
  4. Marcus Mariota
  5. Tony Romo
  6. Tyrod Taylor
  7. Jay Cutler

Down goes Ben Roethlisberger… again. This time it’s his foot. Luckily, it’s only a mid-foot sprain, which should only keep him out a few weeks. Hold Ben, but make a play for Antonio Brown this week. Brown owners are going to panic, still suffering from non-Ben post-traumatic stress disorder from earlier in the year, and many will think they’re selling high after a historic performance. Let ’em. Brown’s the best Fantasy player when Ben is healthy, which it appears he’ll be for the Fantasy playoffs. If you’re coasting to the post-season, start firing off Brown deals right now. As for Landry Jones, he’s only an add in 2QB leagues.

Teddy Bridgewater suffered the cheap shot of the day, and left the game after a quick on-field nap. He did wake up in time to go grab dinner after later, so hopefully he’ll be OK traveling to Oakland next week.

Andrew Luck and Drew Brees have the most friendly schedules from now til Week 16, but Blake Bortles’ is pretty close. And he’s already a reliable Fantasy pivot. He’s tossed multiple TDs in six of seven games and sits inside the Top 10 QBs in scoring, despite having a bye, and draws some soft opponents to finish the season. Starting Week 10, Bortles is at BAL, vs TEN, vs SD, at TEN, vs IND, vs ATL, at NO. Put it this way, I’d much rather have Bortles than Peyton Manning or Matt Ryan rest of the season.

Ryan Tannehill doesn’t qualify for the rankings right now, but he’ll dropped enough after a few rough matchups the next few weeks to eventually be available to pick up. Which you’ll wanna do for the Fantasy playoffs. Miami is vs BAL, vs NYG, at SD and vs IND Weeks 13-16.

Don’t forget Brian Hoyer either. He’s basically matchup proof since he’s averaging over 35 pass attempts game, but his sched gets favorable starting Week 12: vs NO, at BUF, vs NE, at IND, at TEN. Only the Bills are a decent pass defense in that group.

If you’re looking shorter term, people will avoid Marcus Mariota because he’s squaring off with the Panthers Week 10, but he gets Jacksonville twice and Oakland the following three weeks.
